You can override the document wide screening parameters on a block by block basis.
-
Select the block whose screening
parameters you want to change.
-
Choose Specifications from the
Object menu. The specifications dialog box appears. The Pen Screen option lets you change
the screens that create the percentages of color you specified for rules and borders. The
Fill Screen option lets you change the screens that create the percentages of color with
which you filled objects. The Text Screen option lets you change the screens that create
the percentages of color which you applied to text If you selected a picture block or
rule, the specification sheet contains only the Pen Screen button. If you selected a
rectangle, a round-cornered rectangle, an oval, or a polygon, the specification sheet
contains only the Pen Screen and the Fill Screen buttons.
-
Click Pen Screen or Fill Screen or
Text Screen. The Pen Screen or Fill Screen or Text Screen dialog box appears.
-
Deselect Use Document Default, and
select Line Screen if you want to change the way the dots are organized. A dot screen
prints as evenly distributed dots. A line screen creates the effects of parallel lines
that create the picture, as in an engraving or on a television screen.
-
Type a different number of dots or
lines per inch, and type a new angle. You can specify from 20 to 200 dots or lines and
from 0 to 360 degrees. Use 0 (or 360) to print a line screen horizontally. If you used
both a 100% solid pen pattern and fill pattern as part of an object, changing the halftone
screens has no effect.
TIP! For printing on an imagesetter at 2540 dpi, you can use up to 150 lines per inch and print up to 256 shades of grey for very high resolution. Check with your commercial printer to find out the recommendations for the types of pictures and graphics you plan to print on an imagesetter. Remember that the more lines per inch and shades of grey that you use, the longer it takes to print.
-
Click OK to
return to the Specifications dialog box, and click OK again.
