In the Import Text... dialog there is a pop-up menu item called Character Set. By default this is set to Macintosh Roman. The other options are: Unicode UTF16 and Unicode UTF8. Choosing an item from this menu will select how text is converted when it is read in or written out. For example, if one chooses Unicode (UTF8), RSG will convert the text to the Unicode format that is also supported on Windows.

In the Export Text... dialog box select the radio button Unicode (UTF16) to export text for opening in Windows.
