You can indent the first line of a paragraph, or all lines except the first line-called a
hanging indent. You can also indent any line from the right or combine of any of these
indentation styles.
-
Select the text you want to
indent. Each line is indented according to the indentation you specify for its first
character. To keep the same alignment as you edit, select at least an entire paragraph.
-
Choose Indents from the Format
menu. A dialog box prompts you for the amount of indentation you want. A zero in every
text box means that the full line measure in the text block is being used. An empty text
box means that the selection is being formatted by more than one indentation spec.
-
Type the amount of the indentation
in the appropriate text box. The Paragraph indent applies only to the selected first lines
of paragraphs. The Left indent applies to all the selected lines except the first line of
each selected paragraph. The Right indent applies to all the selected lines. Units of
measure are as for the Horizontal Units in the Preferences dialog box.

Click Apply to see the results.
-
Click OK when you're finished.
