When guides are active with Snap To checked in the Page menu, the sides of the object that you draw snap to the closest guides that are within a preset Snap To zone. To snap to the guide, the object gets larger, so if you draw a square in a Snap To zone the side closest to the guide extends the square to become a rectangle. To avoid this effect, create the object outside the Snap To zone and then move it to snap the entire object to the guide.
-
Make sure the guides are visible and Snap To in the Page menu is checked. To snap to layout or other guides on a master page, check Use Master in the Page menu.
-
Arrange or add any guides that you need.
-
Select the text block tool, picture block tool, or a drawing tool.
-
Place the pointer near the guide that you want to snap to.
-
Drag to draw the object. You can use guides to align one, two, three, or all four sides of an object (or two ends if it's a rule). Or use a guide to align the sides of several objects.
