The center of an object is the center
point of its object boundary. Use this procedure to rotate one or more objects each about
its own center.
For precision rotation to a tenth of a degree, use the specification sheet of each object
or the Rotate command in the Object menu.
-
Select the object or objects you
want to rotate.
-
Select the rotation tool from the
tool bar.The pointer changes to an arrowhead.
-
Hold down Command and Shift keys
(if one object, Command key only), put the pointer on the page, and press to display the
rotation axis. The further away you press from the object center (the rotation axis), the
easier it is to be precise about the angle of rotation, which you see in the status bar.
To start at 0 degrees, drag the pointer above the axis of rotation labeled "0"
and align the dotted line with that axis. If you selected more than one object, only one
axis of rotation appears at the common center of the group, even though each object will
rotate separately.
-
Drag clockwise or
counter-clockwise. A temporary copy of the object or objects rotates as you drag. When you
release the button, the object(s) switch to the rotated position of the copy. The starting
position of an object on the page, as shown in its specification sheet, does not
change.
To restore rotated objects to
their original unrotated positions, select them, choose Rotate from the Object menu, type
0, and click OK.
