You can fill a text block or graphic shape with one of 42 fill patterns, including None. (You can fill a picture block only with a picture or a gradient.)

1. Select the required text blocks, graphic objects or a group.

2. Choose Fill Pattern from the Draw menu, and then choose a pattern. For a solid color, choose the black square (100% solid color) at the bottom-right corner of the palette. The object may 'disappear' if you choose None (making it transparent) or the same color or shade as the background. To find it again, choose Select All from the Edit menu so you can see its handles.
