To Turn Hyphenation Off or On

RSG automatically hyphenates words at the ends of lines. If you change the size of a text block or edit the text, the text is automatically re-hyphenated. To specify how text is hyphenated, see To Change the Rules for Hyphenating Text Automatically, later in this chapter.

  1. To turn hyphenation off, select the text or select an insertion point. You must select at least the first character in a word to turn off its hyphenation. To ensure that a text block or chain uses the same hyphenation format throughout, select an insertion point and choose Select All from the Edit menu.

  2. Choose Hyphenation from the Text menu, and then choose Off. The selected text adjusts so that words are no longer hyphenated.

To turn hyphenation on again, choose Hyphenation from the Text menu, and then choose On.
