You can create a stylesheet at any time either by specifying type specs explicitly as
described here, or by copying them from the current text block, as described in the next
procedure.
-
Choose Styles from the Document
menu. The Styles dialog box lists any existing stylesheets.
-
Click New. A dialog box displays a
stylesheet of the options for the type specs. Either None or no selected option should
appear for each type spec. If some of the options are not None or are selected, then
you're probably working in a text block. Click Cancel and then Done, select any tool
except the I-beam tool, and return to step 1. To create a stylesheet based on the current
selection in the text block, see the next procedure.
-
Type a name for the stylesheet.
RSG automatically names a new stylesheet New Style, but you can give it any name you want,
up to 32 characters long, including spaces. Don't use angle brackets (< and >) in
the name of a stylesheet.
To apply a stylesheet using a keyboard command, include a slash (/) and any single
character at the end of the name.
-
Type in or select the required
option for each type spec. If you select None or no option, the stylesheet will have no
effect on the formatting of text for that type spec. For a complete description of the
options, see Specifying Type Specs, later in this chapter, or the
Format menu
commands in Reference.
-
Click OK to add the new
stylesheet. To create a similar stylesheet based on this stylesheet, see To Rename,
Delete, or Create a New Version of a Stylesheet, later in this chapter.
-
Click Done if you're finished. The
stylesheet is stored with the current document. To use it to format text, see
To
Format Text With a Stylesheet, later in this chapter.
